Shaken..not stirred

Given the amount of horrific, devastating disasters which are inflicted by mother nature upon the peoples of
this planet I never cease to be amazed by the furore that minor geological events here in Britain cause amongst both the chattering classes and the great unwashed in housing estates up and down the land.
This morning at the school gates for example the earthquake last night was the topic of the day amongst the not-so-yummy mummies...quite an achievement given the extra-marital goings on in Eastenders last evening...and if I heard the phrase..'..did the earth move for you..?' once, I must have heard it a hundred times... each time delivered in an outrageously camp voice and followed by an inane schoolgirl giggle each thinking they had cracked some original pearl of humourous wisdom...aaarghh!!!
When compared to the devastation, flood, fire, death and general mayhem caused by
earthquakes in other parts of the world I found the photographs on the Sky News website of the effects of our quake ludicrous really...like some kind of Monty Python sketch..I could almost hear a John Cleese silly voice-over....particularly the lady who was glad that the quake hadn't actually damaged the plates in her rack, just shaken them about a bit and that this was lucky since they had been a wedding present...get a grip missus..
